The Development Journey
TileSwappy was developed by Mad_Den Gaming Co., a solo development studio focused on creating thoughtful digital experiences. The game is built with modern web technologies—React and TypeScript on the frontend, with Supabase powering the backend infrastructure.
The development process involved numerous iterations on the puzzle generation algorithm. Early versions used random color selection for gradients, but these puzzles often felt arbitrary. The breakthrough came when we expanded to include not just mathematical gradients, but also beautiful photographs and artwork. This diversity ensures that every puzzle has an inherent logic and visual appeal, whether it's a smooth color transition or a stunning image waiting to be reconstructed.
